Your Care is now My Care

My Care Alabama Central is partnering with Alabama Medicaid to improve the overall health and quality of health care for recipients. If you or your children receive Medicaid benefits and live in the Central region, then you may be able to receive care coordination services from My Care.

So who is My Care Alabama?

My Care is a team of passionate and experienced individuals dedicated to helping recipients access the best health care possible. Our Care Coordinators help you schedule doctor appointments, find transportation to appointments, or anything else you need to stay healthy.

Medicaid recipients may see any participating Primary Care Physician (PCP) or Delivering Healthcare Professional (DHCP) for services, regardless of location, but Care Coordination services will be provided by the ACHN serving the county where you live. If you live in one of the counties listed in the Central region, please call our Recipient Help Line or use the Care Coordinator contact list below. If you do not see your county listed, click here to find your ACHN region.

Since this is a new way to provide care in Alabama, we’re sure you’ve got questions. Here’s a list of the ones we get asked all the time.

Will I still be assigned a doctor?

No. As part of the ACHN program, you can choose to go to any Primary Care doctor or OBGYN that accepts Medicaid. You will work with your Care Coordinator to pick the best doctor for you.

Will my Medicaid Card change?

No. You will still use the ID card provided by Medicaid when you go to the doctor.

How many doctor visits do I have each year?

The Agency will continue to limit doctor visits to 14 annually for adults.

How do I find my Care Coordinator’s phone number?
  1. Go to your regional page
  2. Scroll down and click on the “Recipient Documents” link
  3. Click on the “Regional Care Coordinators” document. A pdf document that includes your Care Coordinators number will pop up.
I am pregnant. What do I do?

Please call the Recipient Help Line so that we can get you in for your first doctor’s visit as soon as possible. You will need a referral from us to bring to the doctor. Also, let us know if you need assistance with transportation to the doctor. We will be with you every step of the way to make sure you and the baby have a healthy delivery.
